Rebekah Weirich Banner

Dear Fellow Delegate:

The conservative ideals of the Republican Party of Texas represent the values of our founding fathers and are at the heart of what it means to be a Texan. We believe in rugged individuality, small government, low taxes, and family values. We love our families, our homes, and our land. Many of us are deeply religious, and we believe in tradition. For these reasons, I want to represent our Senatorial District as SREC Committeewoman.

I was raised in Pasadena, TX and spent my time actively involved at First Baptist Church of Pasadena. I also spent a summer as a missionary in Ghana, a country in West Africa. During my time in Pasadena, I worked in food pantries, homeless shelters, and other missions that assisted the less fortunate in our community. I fought for the lives of the innocent by handing out adoption material at the abortion clinic across the street from our church and aiding in the renovation of Life House, a shelter for women experiencing crisis pregnancies (www.lifehousehouston.org).

I attended Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX where I met my husband, John. At Hardin-Simmons, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science - Elementary Education with a specialization in Early Childhood Education and minored in Music. My husband majored in Music Education with an emphasis in Cello Performance. I also was the Secretary for our college chapter of MENC (Music Educators National Conference).

After graduating, we moved to College Station, where we both taught Middle School in Bryan, and John earned his Master’s in MIS at Texas A&M. We later moved to the Houston area where I taught Special Education and emotionally disturbed children at a Pasadena middle school. After two years, we returned to the place we loved, College Station.

Currently, I am an at home mom. My primary focus is raising my two children, Madelyn and Joshua. Madelyn is 6 and just finished kindergarten. Joshua is 3. We adopted him from foster care when he was 18 months old.

Serving others is at the core of who I am and is evident by the life I lead. I promise to serve Senate District 5 as SREC Committeewoman. As Committeewoman, I will help grassroots activists elect conservative Republicans to local, state, and national government. Together, we can take back our nation. We must join together to stop the decay that Democrats and Liberals are bringing to our great state and our beloved nation.

Furthermore, I will hold accountable our current Republican candidates and elected officials. The Republican label must stand for conservatism and not be used as a means to simply get elected. Our Party Platform represents the will of Republican voters and must be respected by Republican candidates and elected leaders.

I look forward to serving you as your SREC Committeewoman.
I appreciate your support and your vote in our SD Caucus.
